Welcome!

Hi there, I started off on Wikipedia as a newbie, like any other. I soon became very interested in Wikipedia and my fame in Wikipedia started when I got a nice visit to the Administrators' Incident Noticeboard. I got this 'visit' when I was reverting a bot's incorrect tagging of articles, which I learnt about on the IRC channel, #wikipedia. At that time, a few people on the channel were helping out to revert these edits, and by this time I had installed Twinkle which meant I was able to revert the edits more quickly. If you want to read more about my visit to WP:ANI then read this. On the November 25, 2008 I became an voluntary janitor for Wikipedia and now carry out many administrative tasks to help keep the wiki running, including deleting and protecting pages, performing blocks and unblocks and helping out the users on Wikipedia (which you don't have to be an admin to do).

So, now that you know a little bit about my history, I encourage you to feel free to leave a message on my talk page if you have any comments, questions, concerns or requests for help. What do I do around here?

So you might be wondering what exactly I do around here on Wikipedia. Well, I help out in quite a few places:

• Wikipedia:Request an account - Account creation requests, I help to create usernames for users can't create one themselves, or whose names are too similar to an existing account where an administrator/account creator usually will created them.
• Administrator intervention against vandalism - This is the area where vandals are reported to administrators, so if you vandalise your name might pop up around there! As an administrator, I block users that are reported to this area of Wikipedia.
• Usernames for administrator attention - This is the area of Wikipedia which usernames that may require blocking because they violate the username policy are reported.
• New page patrol - I do a bit of this when I can, click on the link for more information about it.
• Recent changes patrol - I do this more frequently now, basically reverting vandalism. For more info, click on the link!
• Wikipedia:Help Desk - The Wikipedia Help Desk is where users (or IPs) can ask questions about using Wikipedia. Feel free to go there whenever you need help. Please note though, for reference queries, go to the Reference Desk!
• New contributor's Help Desk - This is similar to the Help Desk, but more for New contributors, i.e. Users.
• Requests for Adminship - I wouldn't call this 'helping out' but rather keeping an eye on the page, and looking at RFA's from time to time.
• Request for page protection - This is the page that users can report articles to be protected. This could be for many reasons, including the fact that the page is being vandalised or edit warring.
• Articles for deletion - From time to time I also look through this, for articles that have be proposed to be deleted. Click on the link for more information!
• Administrators' noticeboard - The general noticeboard for Administrators.
• Administrators' noticeboard/Incidents - This page is for reporting and discussing incidents on the English Wikipedia that require the intervention of administrators.
• Templates for deletion - On this page, deletion of templates is discussed.
• User categories for discussion - The deletion, merging, or renaming of user categories is discussed on this page.
• Miscellany for deletion - Miscellany for deletion (MfD) is a place where Wikipedians decide what should be done with problematic pages in the namespaces outside of the main namespace (also called the "article namespace") which aren't covered by other specialized deletion discussion areas.
• Files for deletion - Files for deletion (FfD) is for listing images and other media files which are unneeded.
• Stub types for deletion - This page only deals with the deletion and renaming of stub types, which consist of a template and a category, and are intended to be used for sorting stubs.

Helping out on IRC

For those of you that use IRC or have never used it before, you can feel free to message on the freenode network. This is the network that Wikimedia uses (un-officially) and we have many channels on this network. If you would like to know more about the network please read this and if you wish to support the network, see this page. So what do I do on IRC? Well, I'm a 'channel operator' for many Wikimedia and other channels, which means that I make sure that everything is in order - no spamming, trolling or canvassing allowed! Any users that abuse the channels may be quietened or banned (like an administrator blocks users on Wikipedia) for a specific period of time. If you require any help from me or any Wikimedia Channel Operators, feel free to join #wikimedia-ops, the home of the friendly Channel Operators where we will try to answer any queries you may have.

Funny Things

Apparently, I'm Grawp now [1]! For a little explanation, I reverted the wrong user moves by clicking on the incorrect contribution link. Therefore instead of reverting Grawp, I reverted Chris G and was blocked by him. Now my block log is no longer clean! Luckily, some people know that I'm not Grawp. The Helpful One
