After his experiences at Raven's Gate, fourteen-year-old Matt Freeman thinks his days of battling evil are over. But he is pulled into another horrifying adventure when he discovers a second gate exists. Matt and his friend Richard travel to Peru and, assisted by a secret organization known as the Nexus, follow a series of clues to the gate's whereabouts. But there is a traitor in the Nexus... Richard is kidnapped. Matt manages to escape with the help of Pedro, a local boy. The pair travel to the Nazca desert and Matt realizes the horrifying truth: the Nazca lines are the second gate – it is about to open. But, this time, will he have the strength to prevent it?

[edit] Nightrise

Jamie and Scott Tyler are both telepathic twins who perform telepathic acts, according to Horowitz's official website, Nightrise is like nothing he has done before.[3] Matt Freeman, Pedro and Richard Cole feature only briefly in this book; more important is the introduction of a new heroine (Horowitz's first female hero) named Scarlett.[4] She is mostly seen only in the past section of Nightrise, and is set to be the main protagonist in the fourth book of the series.[5] Nightrise was officially released on 2 April 2007 in the UK and was then released in the USA on May 1, 2007. The first chapter was hidden in Horowitz's website in August 2006.

The story talks about Jamie Tyler trying to find his kidnapped brother Scott Tyler. Soon he discovers the sinister corporation called Nightrise, but before Jamie can find his brother he must enter the Nevada prison for delinquents. However his situation turns from bad to worse as he is catapulted more than 10,000 years in the past and faces the Old Ones with the other four gatekeepers. There are great dangers in the battle.

[edit] Necropolis

Hong Kong has been taken over by the Old Ones and has become Necropolis, City of the Dead. Once in, there is no way out… Evil has been unleashed on the world and only five children – with special powers – can save it. Matt and the other three desperately need to find Scarlett, the final Gatekeeper, who has been trapped in Hong Kong, where shape-changers and possessed humans stalk the streets, and even where the very air is poisoned. Matt has no choice but to follow her. Now, both imprisoned, their only hope of survival is to reach a secret door in the Tai Shan Temple. But even if Scarlett can find her shocking power, it may already be too late.

It was released on 30 October 2008.

[edit] Pentagram Series

The Power of Five is a rewritten, modernised version of the Horowitz's own unfinished Pentagram series, written from 1983-89. Although Pentagram required five books for story development, only four were completed: The Devil's Door-bell (Raven's Gate), The Night of the Scorpion (Evil Star), The Silver Citadel (Nightrise), Day of the Dragon (Necropolis)and The Darkness (The Horror Within) [6]
