I added the section on continuous groups. Not being a mathematician I don't feel very secure about the topological aspects. For instance, I ignored the facts that a continuous Lie group is a differentiable manifold and usually needs an atlas of charts to parametrize it completely. However, I feel that the introduction of more mathematical rigor (which I'm not capable of doing) makes the topic difficult to read for physicists and chemists, while not adding anything useful to their theoretical toolbox. --P.wormer 15:56, 4 December 2006 (UTC)

I drastically changed the continuous group section. Since the orthogonality relations don't apply to continuous groups in general, but do apply to all compact groups. Most of the section was explaining how to compute Haar measures for SO(3). I feel that material should be moved to the Haar measue section.
