Ivo Willem Opstelten (January 31, 1944 in Rotterdam). Is a Dutch Politician of the Liberal VVD Party. A career politician, he has served as mayor of six different municipalities, most recently as mayor of Rotterdam from 1999 to 2009. In 2002 he was praised by many for his handling of the aftermath of the assassination of Politician Pim Fortuyn. He resigned on January 1, 2009, and was succeeded by Ahmed Aboutaleb.
