Evening at Pops was one of the longest running programs on PBS[1]. The program was a public television version of a variety show, hosted by a world-renowned orchestra, the Boston Pops. It was taped before live audiences in Boston's Symphony Hall.
The long-running show ended after its 2004-2005 season because the Pops' parent organization, the Boston Symphony Orchestra, did not want to continue funding the nearly $1 million production cost of each episode.[2]
