The Dia do Soldado (Portuguese, Soldier's Day) is a Brazilian date to homage the efforts of members of the Brazilian Army, being celebrated for the first time in 1923. The day especially honors a Brazilian military hero, Luís Alves de Lima e Silva, the duke of Caxias. It is celebrated every 25 August, which marks Caxias' birthday.

Through the 20th century, however, this date has reduced in popularity and is no longer a public holiday, no longer even having an organized military parade. Actually, the holidays chosen to celebrate the Brazilian army forces is the 7 September, when is also commemorated the Brazilian independence from Portugal, or the 15 November, which is the anniversary of Brazilian republic. In both events, there may occur parades.
