The Pewterschmidts are a fictional family on the animated television series Family Guy. They are very rich and were among the first families to colonize America from England, settling in Newport, Rhode Island. The family consists of parents, Carter and Barbara Pewterschmidt, and Lois, Patrick, and Carol. It also includes the children's late great-aunt Marguerite and Carol's infant son.

Carter Pewterschmidt is roughly 70 years old and socializes with others who are extremely rich and powerful. He believes the secret to happiness is money, not love, and he believes his children should not be happy. Carter has deeply hated Peter Griffin since the moment he first met him. Carter placed seventh on Forbes list of the 15 Richest Fictional Characters.^[1]

Carter is voiced by Seth MacFarlane.

Barbara Pewterschmidt, often referred to as "Babs", is Carter's wife. They have an open marriage since Barbara only married Carter for the money.

Lois's long lost brother, who was sent to a mental institution after developing a fear of obese people, caused by Jackie Gleason of the Honeymooners having oral sex with Barbara. After being released around 2005, he started murdering fat people and hiding the evidence from everyone else, until he was captured and returned to the Asylum.

Patrick was voiced by Robert Downey, Jr. in his first and only appearance in the series canon, "The Fat Guy Strangler".

Lois's sister, she has been married nine times so far. She lives in Texas and let Lois's family stay there once when she was on her ninth honeymoon. She has a son by her eighth husband who walked out on her shortly before she gave birth. Peter delivered her baby when the doctor passed out after he put his arm in a box of used needles.
