The 2008-09 season will be Burnley's 9th season in the second tier of English football. They will be managed by Owen Coyle - in his second season since replacing Steve Cotterill on the 8th November 2007.

The fixtures for this season were announced, with Burnley beginning away at Sheffield Wednesday and finishing the season at home to Bristol City.
