Association of MBAs

The Association of MBAs is an organization that accredits postgraduate business programs at international business schools. It differs from the AACSB in the US and EQUIS in Europe in that it accredits specific postgraduate business programs rather than entire schools.
The Association of MBAs accredits schools that offer Master of Business Administration (MBA), Doctor of Business Administration (DBA) and Masters in Business and Management (MBM) degrees. The Association of MBAs accredits over 155 MBA, DBA and MBM programs at business schools in 71 different countries.
The Association of MBAs is also a member organization for alumni and students from its accredited schools, accredited business schools, and MBA employers, with over 9,000 members.

The Association of MBAs was founded in 1967 by eight UK graduates from Harvard and Wharton School. Realising the fundamental strength of the qualification in terms of business and leadership, but seeing little knowledge of it in Europe, they decided to form a lobby and membership group. This started as the Business Graduates Association (BGA) and coincided with the setting up in the UK of London and Manchester Business Schools and the growth of management education in the rest of Europe at IESE and INSEAD. The BGA developed into the Association of MBAs which began to accredit the growing number of MBA programs through the 1970s and 80s while also developing a strong membership brand.
